WasteTracker powers GTC’s next step in sustainable property management

GTC rolls out WasteTracker in 12 Polish office buildings, bringing smart waste management and data-driven sustainability to nearly 135,000 sqm of workspace.

At WasteTracker, we believe that waste should no longer be the invisible part of building operations. Our mission is to bring data-driven transparency and actionable insights that help organizations take real steps towards waste reduction. This is why we are proud to announce that GTC is deploying the WasteTracker across its office buildings in Poland, marking a major milestone in sustainable property management.

GTC is one of the leading real estate investors and developers with 30 years of experience operating in the largest markets of Central and Eastern Europe. The company has been consistently recognized for high environmental standards across its portfolio, and is now taking the next step by introducing advanced waste management technology.

The rollout covers 12 office buildings in Poland: Poznań (Pixel and Globis), Kraków (Korona Office Complex), Katowice (Francuska Office Center), Łódź (Sterling Business Center and University Business Park), and Wrocław (Globis) – nearly 135,000 sqm of office space. Each building already meets high environmental certifications, and by adopting WasteTracker, GTC adds a new layer of accountability and impact to its ESG commitments.

“By introducing innovative technologies to GTC investments, we are strengthening our position among environmentally responsible commercial real estate owners and managers. The implementation of WasteTracker in Poland is a model example of supporting a circular economy in office buildings. This new tool allows us and our tenants not only to better understand the scale of waste production, but also to implement specific actions to reduce it. It is an investment in transparency, accountability, and modern property management," says Michał Wilczyński, Asset Manager at GTC Poland.

The WasteTracker platform combines smart weighing terminals with an analytics dashboard, giving both property managers and tenants a clear view of the types and volumes of waste generated. Beyond measurement, the system supports best practices in reduction, reuse, and segregation – paving the way for a true Zero-Waste transformation.

“For too long, waste has been the forgotten and unmeasured utility in buildings. The old ‘out of sight, out of mind’ approach no longer applies. Our industry must confront the waste challenge with clear data, measuring both the success and failure of initiatives to reduce volumes, improve segregation rates, and ensure responsible treatment — from diversion away from landfills to more sustainable recovery. The EU’s Waste Directive raises the bar, requiring a 65% segregation rate by 2035 — a significant leap from Poland’s current level of around 45%. Achieving this is only possible with accurate measurement and consistent action. WasteTracker was created to make these changes attainable, and together with GTC, we are now putting this vision into practice at scale." – comments Renata Hartle, CEO & Co-Founder at WasteTracker.

Through this collaboration, GTC empowers its tenants with tools to meet ambitious climate and sustainability goals, while demonstrating leadership in the transition towards more sustainable commercial real estate.
